Today, I mentioned to my loving girlfriend how I had previously been shamed for being attracted to multiple sexes and genders.  She told me she would never do that, but she also fell victim to misunderstanding of the identity.  In attempt to make me feel more comfortable with myself, she told me that I could feel free to proclaim any male celebrity crushes I may have to people.  This was a very endearing thought, but it also made me feel like there isn’t enough visibility of this identity (poly/pansexual/multitarian) to have it be understood.  It would feel very artificial for me to go around telling people my love for Emile Hirsch…I’m neither straight nor a lesbian, but I need to think of appropriate ways to advocate for my identity because THERE ARE PEOPLE IN THE WORLD WHO LOVE OUTSIDE THE SEXUAL AND GENDER DICHOTOMIES!!!!
